HEALTHY HALFTIME SNACKS
MLS WORKS has teamed up with renowned doctors and experts to provide you with the Healthy Halftime Snacks Guide.
Pre-Exercises
Whole grain pretzels*Trial Mix*
Carrot and celery sticks
Half wheat bagel with jam
Whole wheat crackers*
Banana and strawberries or grapes and cherries or other fruits
Popcorn (low salt and little or no butter)*
Animal crackers* and orange slices
Post-Exercises
Bagel with low-fat cream cheese and jellyLow-fat yogurt with granola or fruit

*A handful or two of these snacks one hour before or one hour after following exercise will give you body more energy for action.

Below are 10 quick tips to help you create a great plate:
- Balance calories
- Enjoy your food, but eat less
- Avoid oversized portions
- Eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains and fat-free or 1% dairy products
- Make half your plate fruits and vegetables
- Switch to fat-free or low-fat (1%) milk
- Make half your grains whole grains
- Cut back on foods high in solid fats, added sugars and salt
- Compare sodium in foods
- Drink water instead of sugary drinks
